A Digital Thread for Weaving Success
Product representation throughout the value chain creates a foundation to work with product data in very unique ways. With Industry 4.0 adoption and the right toolchains, Vestas developed an end-to-end digital thread across the value chain to improve business operations and customer service.
At the start of the program, Vestas had three objectives:
- Determine material traceability end-to-end
- Increase the level of utilization by bringing up the information
- Disseminate information across the organization for better use
Vestas worked with L&T Technology 91原创 (LTTS) to integrate their PLM systems with their ERP and CAD systems. The introduction of digital thread across ERP and CAD Systems helped Vestas to:
- Drive down the maintenance cost
- Improve field service operations
- Offer maintenance bundles and service sales to customers leading to an alternate revenue source
