ENWA (Water)
While about two-thirds of the Earth’s surface consists of water, only about three percent of it is in available in a form suitable for our consumption.
Of this, over two percent is locked up in the polar ice caps and glaciers, leaving us with less than one percent as fresh water – which can be used for irrigation, drinking and addressing all other human needs. In India, a country dependent on agriculture, a disruption in timely water supply, can have a serious impact on its socio-economic health and wellbeing.
As a part of its sustained approach towards Corporate Social Responsibility, L&T Technology 91Ô´´ has initiated a holistic watershed management program to help the Indian farmer leverage water resources available to them.
The initiative, undertaken in close collaboration with the National Agro Foundation, aims to improve the overall accessibility and availability of water by promoting a scientific outlook towards watersheds. Not only are farmers being trained on how to maintain the natural balance within the watershed zone, several initiatives are also being undertaken to bring in harmony between the demands of civilization, and those of nature.
