Mary: Group Therapy

Yesterday I wore my favorite t-shirt to the gym. .

When I wear above t-shirt, every woman over 40 points to my chest ("Group Therapy") and laughs then she says, “That’s so true!”

I’ve never been one to wear t-shirts with cute sayings or emblazoned with “Hawaii” or “Aruba.” That just isn't me, but I love this t-shirt because it’s honest. White or red wine and/or champagne can be very good therapy, don’t you think?

I found the t-shirt at a small vineyard in the Napa Valley when I accompanied Husband to one of his fighter pilot reunions. The "fighter pilots" went off to tell lies about their adventures, and I went off to shop.

The saying on the shirt struck me as hysterical because whenever I’m upset, I don’t pick up the yellow pages and look for a therapist, I open the fridge and pop a cork. Just thinking about wine or champagne goes a long way to smooth rough edges caused by crazy family, health problems and health insurance bills. (By the way, does the insurance company make those co-pay bills hard to understand on purpose?)

1. The rhinestones are tiny and cute, not too glittery.

2. The shirt is black, my favorite color.

3. And even if I don’t know the woman who points at my shirt, when she smiles, we connect like women over 40 should.
