MARY: High School Redux

I live in Over The Hill Ville (OTHV). That’s slang for a 55-and over community.

Believe me, living in an OTHV is a panic (in more ways than one)! The community reminds me a lot of high school except there’s no homework, and usually no acne. However there is a lot of talk about colonoscopies and blood cholesterol numbers.

OTHV is a microcosm of any other city: There are politicians, popular people, recluses, jocks (well, as athletic as a person can be when you move to OTHV, )nerds, shy people, slutty people, nutty people and other odds and ends.

The Brainiacs are amazing. When they talk, listeners have no idea what they’re blabbing about. The conversations go something like this:
BRAINIAC: “And then the Automaticostomy takes control of the physiological Blasting Pattern and the Blastic yondro splits and you have TOAST!”
ME: “Wow!”

Brainiacs are usually retired college professors or bus drivers. We also have class clowns, rebels and hippies with grey ponytails hanging down their backs. (Not a pretty sight.) Just the other day I saw a man over 50 in a electric pink Speedo. (I swear I almost ran into the wall.)

Just picture your high school population then make them over 55. At least I don’t have to watch them make out at their lockers….eeeeehhhhhwwww!
OTHV is great. Most residents let go of restrictions. They do what they want, when they want and to hell with everything else! Hurrah for OTHV!
